A journey across Italy set to the rhythm of long-distance express trains, as they cross the Italian peninsula from South to North and back again, in a trip spanning night and day. A succession of landscapes, buildings, faces, dialects, voices and lives which blend together onboard the trains.
Pietro Marcello was born on July 2, 1976 in Caserta, Campania, Italy. He is a director and writer, known for Lost and Beautiful (2015), Martin Eden (2019) and The Mouth of the Wolf (2009).

Railway Sleepers explores the close connection between Thai people and Thai railway. Through various activities and scenes inside and outside the moving vehicles, the film turns the train into a microcosm of life in Thailand.
Sompot Chidgasornpongse graduated with a bachelor's degree in architecture from Chulalongkorn university, and an MFA in Film/Video from California Institute of the Arts. He has been working closely with Apichatpong Weerasethakul as assistant director in many films. His first feature documentary, Railway Sleepers had its world premiere in Documentary Competition at Busan International Film Festival, and European premiere in the Forum section at the Berlinale.

Until the 70s an important railway premises operated in a town of the south of Chile called San Rosendo. Today, only two trains pass during the day: one in the morning and another in the afternoon. The film focusses on the daily gestures of the inhabitants, in relationship with the landscape in a place that is disappearing.
Cristian Saldía is an Architect and Filmmaker. Master in Art and Heritage from the Concepción University. Academic of the Faculty of Communication, History and Social Sciences of the Catholic University of Santísima Concepción. His film The Noise of Trains was screened in more than 20 international film festivals in Latin America and Europe and received several awards.

J.P. Sniadecki is a filmmaker, anthropologist, and professor of documentary media at Northwestern University in Chicago. His films, which include Demolition / Chaiqian (2008), Foreign Parts (with Verena Paravel, 2010), People’s Park (with Libbie Cohn, 2012), Yumen (with Huang Xiang and Xu Ruotao, 2013) and The Iron Ministry (2014), have won many awards at festivals around the world.
