Take a few minutes to sit down with a 'poète public' and leave with a unique and personalised poem: a gift for a loved one or yourself.
A Slam Poem Ticket is an encounter, a moment shared between an experienced poet and a curious passer-by, a passer-by who is willing to take a few minutes of his or her time to create a personalised poem. Whether that poem be a love poem, a friendship poem, a poem about heartbreak, a rant, a memory of a trip, a reflection, a message to pass on... we all experience emotions and feelings that can be put into poetry.
The aim is to reintroduce both citizens and the public space to all those little things that are so essential to our wellbeing and that we have missed so much during the confinement: poetry, dialogue, exchange, art, imagination...
On the occasion of EUROPALIA TRAINS & TRACKS, the Slameke collective developed an adapted version of Poète public for Dutch and French-speaking university students. On three separate Fridays, students travelling between their dormitories and home or elsewhere will be invited — just like other passers-by — to compose their personal poem. The project will start at the Etterbeek station, close to the ULB and VUB. It will then travel to Leuven and Louvain-la-Neuve and, finally, to Namur and Liège.
The Slameke collective organises numerous activities around poetry and slam poetry. For several years now, its members have been organising public poetry events in, among others, Brussels metro stations and retirement homes.
